Delphinus Makes Some Noise at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum

Once again, Delphinus Medical Technologies participated in the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum TechTwilight event.  Held on Friday, May 20th, TechTwilight provides local companies with the opportunity to celebrate and share their innovations with Museum guests and each other in a festive environment of discovery.  Proceeds and event sponsorships support the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum’s mission of inspiring young people to embrace science, technology, engineering, art and math.

At the Delphinus exhibit, visitors learned about sound waves and ultrasound in nature (bats & dolphins) and medical imaging.  The exhibit included how ultrasound medical images are created from reflections off of tissue boundaries (and through tissue with SoftVue), imaging everything from hearts-in-motion, babies-in-development, and cancer.  The Delphinus hands-on highlight was a musical instrument that sends pulses of ultrasound reflecting off of the operator’s hands and outputs sound based on the distance from each hand, changing the volume and speed of the music.  Kids, and grown kids alike, were fascinated!
